Set just before Christmas when the whole town around her is celebrating, Hanna just wants to dwell in her misery but she still has kind thoughts for her patients and a desire to do what is right even at personal cost. I am very interested in stories that connect in some way to the Second World War, and Hanna Morse, the main character in this story has just that connection - a young nurse who at the end of war is grieving the loss of her husband and trying to find some reason to go on. I was drawn to this book in part by the cover which features a young woman with her hair done in a style from the forties.

I loved how everything came together in this book and I highly recommend the book and movie :) Good for ages 14/15+ Every character was unique, and Jake's trust in Hanna was really sweet. Even the romance is extremely light-only forehead kissing before marriage. This is a clean book, with a couple mentions of praying one mention of Moses, and of going to church.
That every choice we make does make a difference, and it took Hanna traveling to 2016 to see that. There's a lot of focus on miracles, and so the comet is presented as a miracle in Hanna's life.Įven better, I loved the theme of the story. Usually I'm not a fan of time travel stories, but this one wasn't as bogged down with the "what-ifs" as others I've come across. This book brought the film even more to life, and I loved how I could picture everything so well! The writing style is lovely, and it was wonderful to see into the heads of each characters. I'd seen the film through Hallmark last year and loved it because it was unique and whimsical. Who doesn't like a sweet, warm Christmas story?
